Open Letter to Lil Kesh: If Headies Fail to Recognise your Work,Pull a Kanye on Them
Dear
Keshinro Ololade,
I Am Poshtrends247, I do PR and Social Media Hype, I
recently just went through Davido’s tweet where he described lil-Kesh as the Numero
Uno and the Next Rated of the Year “HANDS DOWN”
But the QUESTION is what would happen if Headies fail to
Recognise Kesh as Next Rated artist of the Year because it will be hard
listening to Skibi that, Damisi, Gbese, Ladi, Efejoku and not fall in love with
you. I am a fan of yours and I have followed your growth from the
days when you started being mad lyrically, now to your days under Badoo’s
management.
Pitching tent
with a bigger person of the same style I thought was quite risky owing to the competition
killing you although I felt it was a move worth making as you needed a fully
dedicated management to grow your career, that move paid off and you’re now
better off for it even Olamide himself once called you ‘Keshi Oba Lola’ knowing
the capabilities you possessed he swiftly prepared you as a protégé to take
over reign for him since he understood that nobody would shine forever. At that
point, I knew the ‘god of music’ was behind you.
And so it became surprising why some quarters believe you should not be crowned the Next Rated at Headies though it is not so surprising to see that people have contrasting opinions as variety remains the best spice of life even as the street embraced all of your releases the rate at which the ‘butties’ accepted you too was alarming. People preached the Shoki gospel and gladly talked about how good Gbese and Efejoku was the lyrics was Oh My GOD even my cool Lionel Richie addicted girlfriends became an advocate of ‘Skibo Wait are you kidding me being the new Cool’, no thanks to you. While we were about getting bored of enjoying Shoroniyen amongst other beautiful songs, you unconsciously re-vibed the street with Gbese and Efejoku.

I have
read from some Online Confers that you should not win the Next Rated act
flimsily because they say Lil kesh songs are basically for 18+ they said his
words are to explicit.
Apparently
I learnt few things from Headies Burna Boy Snub in 2013 and Last year Rookie of
the Year brouhaha with the media going agog with Olamide’s F*** that shit
comment calling you his own rookie of the year and walked off the stage smiling.
Fast forward to 2015 we aren’t playing with them anymore.
and by the way, I got my godmother Simi in two Categories, my role model in
another, and then I got my Long time Crush Dija in another most Sought for
Cadre, so I’m not going to do nothing that would put awon Goons mi at risk of,
but I am here to write for creativity that the Headies needs to respect
artistry, they should have given last year Rookie of the Year award to LilKesh,
and 2013 Next Rated to Burna Boy. By now I am tired of it I just know that if the Headies want real artists to
take them seriously, holding them in high esteem and keep coming back, they
need to stop playing with us and give awards deservedly to those who worked for
it.
Dear Keshinro
Ololade if Headies fail to recognise the work you’ve Put in this Year Dude Pull
a Kanye on them, the Headies needs to respect artistry and give this award to
LilKesh. We your Fans loves you even if Headies choose to be blind to all the
work you put in.
As you
once said “Put your
culture into your rap then your fans will definitely listen to you”
#iam your day1 fan from SHOKI to LYRICALLY to
GBESE to EFEJOKU to the NEXT#
